THE MOUNTAIN RISES
Uttarakhand were founded as a cricket association only in 2018 โ the youngest team in Indian domestic cricket. To reach the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy in just their seventh season is an extraordinary achievement.
Under coach Manish Jha and captain Kunal Chandela, Uttarakhand finished 2nd in Elite Group C with 4 wins and 29 points. Mayank Mishra took 59 wickets across the tournament โ the second-highest in the competition โ anchoring a bowling attack that dismantled sides.
The quarter-final win over Jharkhand by an innings and 6 runs booked a semi-final against Karnataka. Facing a 736-run first innings โ with Padikkal scoring 232 โ was a step too far. But reaching there was the real story. Uttarakhand proved that the Ranji Trophy's old guard can be beaten.
"The Mountain Men Make the Last Four"
When Uttarakhand beat Jharkhand by an innings and 6 runs in the quarter-final, celebrations erupted in Dehradun. A state association founded just seven years ago, with no traditional cricket heritage โ relying on journeymen from other states and a tireless bowling attack led by Mayank Mishra. The semi-final against Karnataka was a step too far, but the journey changed Uttarakhand cricket forever.
