The Kathiawar Way
Saurashtra's first Ranji Trophy title in 2019-20 โ won on first-innings lead against Bengal in the final โ was followed by a second in 2022-23, establishing them as a genuine force. Captain Jaydev Unadkat, Cheteshwar Pujara's batting pedigree, and Ravindra Jadeja's roots in Rajkot make this a small-market team that punches above its weight.
The 2025-26 season was unbeaten: three wins and four draws from seven matches, finishing third in Group B with 26 points. Chirag Jani was the standout all-rounder โ 152 against Kerala, 90 against Karnataka, and 82 against MP, all while contributing with the ball. Parth Bhut took 20 wickets at 12.35, including 7/56 against Goa, as the tournament's most economical bowler for Saurashtra.
Despite being unbeaten, third place wasn't enough for the knockouts. But the SCA's academy in Rajkot keeps the talent pipeline flowing, and Saurashtra remain a force that no team wants to face.
