Temple State, Temple Cricket
Odisha entered Ranji cricket in 1949 and have never won the title. Despite lacking the resources of bigger states, Odisha has consistently maintained Elite status through developing local talent. The Barabati Stadium in Cuttack โ one of India's iconic grounds โ provides the inspiration.
The 2025-26 campaign yielded just one win from seven matches. Swastik Samal was the standout, scoring 169 against Nagaland to earn Player of the Match in Odisha's only victory. Govinda Poddar contributed with bat and ball, taking 5/69 in that same match. But innings defeats to Andhra and heavy losses to Baroda, Tamil Nadu, and Jharkhand left Odisha at 7th in Group A with 7 points.
