The Discipline of Chepauk
Tamil Nadu's two Ranji titles (1954-55, 1987-88) underscore a cricketing tradition built on technique. The TNCA system has produced India cricketers from S. Venkataraghavan to R. Ashwin, and the Chepauk pitches reward spin and patience over pace and aggression.
The 2025-26 season was a struggle. An innings defeat to Jharkhand in the opener set a grim tone, and Tamil Nadu managed just one win from seven matches โ a 207-run victory over Odisha at Cuttack. Pradosh Ranjan Paul was the standout, scoring a double century against Nagaland and a hundred against Vidarbha. Baba Indrajith's 149 against UP was another bright spot.
Sixth in Group A with 14 points fell short of expectations. But the TNCA's depth remains โ Sai Kishore captained with composure, and the Chepauk production line keeps turning.
