Royal Pedigree, Modern Ambitions
Baroda's five Ranji titles span from 1942-43 to 2000-01, built on the Gaekwad family's patronage and a tradition of technically sound batting. Datta Gaekwad captained India, and the city later produced Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan, two of India's finest left-arm options.
In 2025-26, Krunal Pandya captained the side in what was a mixed campaign: two wins and one loss from seven matches. Kumar Kushagra's 234 against Jharkhand was the standout innings โ a marathon knock that anchored a vital draw. Shivalik Sharma (124 vs Odisha) and Vishnu Solanki (131 vs Andhra) also made key contributions with the bat.
Fourth in Group A with 17 points โ just short of the knockouts. Baroda's maidan cricket culture produces more cricketers per capita than almost any Indian city outside Mumbai, and the talent pipeline keeps flowing.
