God's Own Cricket Country
Kerala entered Ranji cricket in 1957 and reached their first-ever final in 2024-25, finishing as runners-up. The KCA's investment is paying off โ Sanju Samson is an India international, and the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram has hosted Tests since 2019.
The 2025-26 campaign was a step back. MD Nidheesh emerged as the bowling star with figures of 6/20 against Saurashtra and 5/49 against Maharashtra, while Sachin Baby played the captain's knock โ an unbeaten 122 against Madhya Pradesh. Baba Aparajith contributed consistently with scores of 98 and 88. But two innings defeats โ to Karnataka (Karun Nair's 233) and to Chandigarh โ proved too costly.
One outright win from seven matches yielded just 14 points. Kerala's maiden title remains the goal, and with the 55,000-seat Greenfield drawing crowds and a young pace attack led by Nidheesh, the foundation is there.
