The Lion's Heart of North India
Punjab won their only Ranji title in 1992-93, and the state's cricketing identity is built on pace bowling โ from Harbhajan Singh to Yuvraj Singh to Arshdeep Singh. The IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali provides one of India's best fast-bowling surfaces.
The 2025-26 season was a struggle โ one win (vs Chandigarh in Round 4) and three draws could not overcome three late-season defeats. Uday Saharan was the standout batter with scores of 75, 126, and an unbeaten 117 in the victory over Chandigarh. Harnoor Singh's magnificent 170 vs Kerala and Ayush Goyal's 8 wickets in the Chandigarh win were the other highlights.
Eleventh place with 11 points โ 7th in Group B โ was a disappointing campaign. Three consecutive losses to Maharashtra (innings defeat), Saurashtra, and Karnataka to close the season left Punjab well short of the knockouts.
